Phil and I were notified yesterday that the tags-21.info domain is ours. So things have moved along faster than we originally expected, which is great. We have a few more items to take care of but the site should be on-line at the original domain later today or early tomorrow. We will post a message as soon as it is up.

Today, 09 Apr 2015, was a special day; LT David Crestin and I were in contact via telephone. He was the Admin Officer when I reported aboard the Bowditch in Feb 1966 and during my tour on her. He was a top notch officer and one of my favorites.

While looking at some of the ship's specs I noticed the fuel capacity and range. All three had a fuel capacity of 19,023.3 barrels and a range of 21,300 miles. That equates to .893 barrel per mile, or 37.51 gallons per mile. Our ships weren't exactly VW Beetles when it came to mileage.

Good news; Phil and I have the tags-21.info domain name. It was auctioned today and we got it. It will take a couple of weeks before it will officially be transferred to us. As soon as that happens, it will be back on-line. At that time there will be two domains that can be used to access the site, .info and .org.

We're getting there.

0152 hrs 29 March 2015 - Good news, Earl's site is back on-line at a new URL; to access the site change .info to .org in the domain name.

Much the same as before except for the .org

It's late, I haven't had time to do in depth testing; did a couple quick checks and it looks ok. I am going to bed and will resume testing later today. If you find any problems, please let me know by replying via the Mail Box to the right of this post.

Thanks Earl; RIP and thank you Phil; if it hadn't been for your expertise and quick action, the site would have been lost forever.

I was really saddened to hear of Earl's passing. We had corresponded by email for awhile after I found his web site.

04 March 2015 - As you may have discovered, the site has been taken down. This is the result of the Domain name expiring yesterday 03 March 2015.

Phil and I are doing everything we can to get the site back on-line ASAP. Please bear with us, it will happen, we just don't know exactly when.

It was real shock to hear from ACE Hunter, that Earl had passed away. His family will be in our thoughts and prayers. I was in school with Earl at Dam Neck, in Virginia Beach VA. I drove him up to Harrisonburg VA. to see ACE Hunter. His TAGS site is a great place to remember the good old days. I really enjoyed the NOT real Navy. Thanks Chet and Phil for rescuing and preserving this site.

I was very saddened to see your posts regarding Earl's passing. While I was not a shipmate of his and thus can't say that we were close friends, I did have an opportunity to communicate frequently with him while my materials were being added to the site. This site means a tremendous amount to me and I am virtually a daily visitor to the guest log always hoping to reconnect with a long lost friend and shipmate. It'll be devastating if all of this content disappears. I do not have the technical skills to contribute to your restoration efforts but if a financial contribution would be of assistance please don't hesitate to contact me via email. This site is too good to be lost.

Today 26 Feb 2015 Phil and I learned that Earl was interred at the Fort Custer National Cemetery in Augusta, Michigan 49012.

He is buried at Section 4A site 1083. His marker reads as follows:

Vietnam
Date of Birth: 09 19 1947
Date of Death: 11 24 2014

There is a lot I would like to say but right now the shock of Earl's passing is too fresh. Phil and I are going to do everything we can to continue Earl's site. As Phil stated in his notice above, the site will be down for about four months. This is unavoidable due to domain rules.
