Sunset at Sea
Waiting for sunset, and the green flash.
Waiting for sunset, and the green flash.
We got 30 first run movies before each cruise, so we had one new movie a day at sea. Notice the splicing equipment in the back compartment--it was heavily used!
Note: In 1962-64 this space was known as the Print Shop, with the original intention of producing the final product for distribution, bathymetric charts, on board ship. This either never happened or the lithographic equipment was removed prior to that time. (jah 1/22)
The movie on the table is "The Wild Bunch". It had a release date of 18 June 1969 in the USA, so at the time, this would have been a "new" movie. Note the bookshelves. On both Bowditch and Michelson we'd get a box or two of paperbacks each inport. I don't know who sent them--some official Navy morale thing I think. We fought over the SF.
es, believe it or not, we are playing shuffleboard. Note the weld joints on the deck, and imagine what happens when the shuffleboard disk hits the welds. Doc Wink HMC, on the right, contemplates his next shot.
...still contemplating.
