SASS data were stored on 1/2 inch magnetic tape. Each tape was affixed with a label like this one. At the end of a Survey Op, the tapes were boxed up and shipped back to NAVOCEANO.

I imagine that, forty years ago, a group of perplexed OGOs were searching high and low for missing Tape #1331.
