Triple Expansion Reciprocating Steam Engine

In 1966, Steve McQueen starred in a movie called “The Sand Pebbles.” The movie was set in war-torn China in the ‘20’s. Much of the action in the movie takes place on the gunboat that is the main set. This is the engine from the movie. A working steam engine that they periodically simulate running for visitors. How such a huge piece of movie history ended up in the hold of an old Victory ship is an interesting story in itself.

Murmansk Convoy Route

There’s lots of info on the various war campaigns and convoy activity in which Vics participated.

Sextant and Stadimeter

The Lane’s sextant and stadimeter. Early in the lives of the Vics, they of course had to use pretty primitive navigational gear.

San Pedro

A chopper shot of the Lane’s berthing area near where many cruise ships berth in San Pedro. The Lane’s on the right, giving you an idea of just how huge those cruisers are. That’s the Vincent-Thomas Bridge in the background.
