A Back Alley in Malaga
Doug Marty Wistful at Lunch
A great guy and a great drinking buddy.
Gravit and Goat
The wacky Gravit Joe Drumheller propositioning a new friend. To put this picture in context, Joe was from
the South. Joe had been at sea for a month. Joe had found a docile farm animal. These three facts intersect
to form a solution to a personal problem.
Toledo, Spain
From a hill across the Tagus River. That’s the famous Alcazar on the mound to the right.
The Bull Ring at Rhonda, Spain
Toreador and Bull
How many guys do you know who can get away with pink stockings in public?
Estocada
The final act of the “fight,” the estocada; the thrusting of the sword. I’m not much into this so-called
“sport,” but it was an active part of the culture of southern Spain in the early ‘70’s, so I wanted to
experience it.
At Dinner
One of the treats we most looked forward to ashore was a fancy meal in a nice restaurant. Here’s one in
either La Coruna, Spain or Naples, Italy. Left to right: (backs toward camera) Bill “Jinx” Jenkins and wife
Christina Aldridge to his left, Carroll “Frog” King, Bob Lord, John Simkins and wife Ann, John Musgrove
of NAVOCEANO.
Frog
Frog being Frog as only Frog could be. Jinx’s wife Chris, left. Bob Lord assisting on the right.
