General Instruments SASS School

The Harris ASW division of General Instrument Corporation was the company that manufactured the multi-beam phased array sonar (SASS) installed on USS Compass Island and the T-AGS. Harris was located in Westwood, MA. The SASS generated the bathymetry data, which was the primary output of the T-AGS and the Ocean Survey Program.
