Dennis Johnsey on Guam

I think this was on Guam, but it could have been Japan. Maybe Johnsey remembers.

Iʼm terrible with names, so I hope that someone else can identify this guy (and the remainder of the crew whose monikers I mislaid somewhere south of Olongapo.)

Nope, I still don’t know him.

On Guam

I think this was also on Guam. The only guy I remember is “Doc,” the corpsman, who is on the far right. He flushed the wax out of my ear after small-arms practice on the fantail one time, and he treated me for a major sunburn that I incurred while lazing about on the steel beach (also known as the forward hatch cover).

I think this guy’s name was Bernard or Bernhardt. Anybody know for sure?

On Guam

A group of four or five of us took a bicycle ride around Guam, which is when this was taken. Iʼm on the right, and the other guy was a good friend at the time, though his name escapes me now.

In Port Watch

Michelson Security Station, manned only when the ship was in port. This desk was at the entrance to the Navy quarters aboard the ship. The Navy didnʼt want any interlopers getting into the tech spaces, so the security watch would have been armed with a .45 when we were in port. But with an empty clip!
